I am seeing this in my current role. The most impact I can have is the more technical side of things. Just like you state in the post.

I agree with the sentiment of this post completely! In my org, the responsibility of data modeling currently sits with data engineering, who, while very technically proficient are not plugged into business operations. Human data analysts can work with messy data models and learn which fields and tables to trust and which not to, while AI requires more structure to get the right results every time.

If data analysts cut themselves out of the loop by enabling self serve analytics, I wonder how we’ll continue to maintain the business context that is naturally acquired through the reps of working with stakeholders ad hoc. We’ll certainly need to be more proactive in our approach!
